Dublin-based indie rockers Arcwords are back with Finger on the Trigger, their catchiest and most up-tempo release yet.
The band did the guts of the recording last year, with former Race the Flux frontman Joseph Padfield, before calling upon mixing engineer Scott Halliday (whose mixing credits include Jerry Fish, Gavin Glass, and Flecks), to bring added punch and polish to proceedings.
Finger on the Trigger sees Arcwords at their most energetic and exciting.
The track is chock full of singable hooks, energetic guitar lines, and pumping synths. Once the atmospheric introduction gives way to the angular rhythms of the first verse, Arcwords settle into an infectious groove. While the instrumental is full of danceable energy and fun, the lyrics see the band toy with a politically ambiguous story of radicalism and violence; it’s a juxtaposition for the current age.
Arcwords are a Dublin based indie band. After meeting as students in BIMM Dublin, Arcwords have spent the last three years drawing upon post-punk and math rock styles to create a guitar-driven,hook filled sound. Arcwords combine influences such as Bloc Party, TTNG, the Smiths, and Everything Everything, to bring something new to the indie rock table.
