Dublin musician Rob Smith is set to release an anniversary edition of his acclaimed 2010 album The Juliana Field. The decade old album gets the full remastering treatment and even includes a bonus track from the original album’s recording sessions.
“It’s a really interesting album,” the 37-year old Dubliner says. “It purposely sounds lo-fi because when we recorded it with heavy guitars and thrashing drums, it didn’t sound nowhere near as good. It sounded almost fake.”
The original album was met with rave reviews back in 2010, which witnessed Smith embark on an enormous solo tour across Europe and North America.
“The French embraced it the most at the time. One of the most surreal things was a large French supermarket chain added one of the songs to their in-store playlist across the entire country. Had I have known that beforehand I would have called the album “Music For Supermarkets”, Smith laughs.
The album is due out on all platforms on March 5th.
